Kellerei Kaltern (Caldaro, Alto Adige)

Kellerei Kaltern is a modern co-operative facility in the Alto Adige, with 410 members. The winery is highly regarded as one of the best in the region and focuses on individuality and character of single sites. Commitment to quality is the main focus of the growers.

Pinot Grigio Söll

The Söll is a single site 12 year old vineyard, from a SE facing slope, 450 m above sea level. The site is relatively warm and breezy, which aids in preventing any botrytis. Soil is primarily loam, with weathered chalk. In making the wine, grapes are whole bunch pressed, with slow temperature controlled ferment, and 6 months on lees. 20% of the wine is barrel fermented. Residual sugar 3 g / L.

Pinot Bianco

The Pinot Bianco is grown on easterly facing steep vineyards 450-600 metres above the town of Kaltern. The soils are mineral-rich, with a mix of loam, chalk, gravel nand small proportion of sand. The grapes are whole bunch pressed, with temperature controlled fermentation at 18 degree. The wine is aged on lees for 4 months in stainless steel. White fruits dominate here, with perfumed apples and ripe pears.

Terlaner

This is a blend of Pinot Bianco (85%) and Chardonnay (15%) grown 450-600 metres above the town of Kaltern. The berries are whole bunch pressed, fermented in stainless steel and spend 4 months on lees. The wine has aromas of pears, musk and white flowers. There is gentle fruit sweetness on the palate, with a generous fleshy texture and balanced acid carry.

Solos (Bio-Organic)

This is a blend of Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc

Moscato Giallo "Serenade"

Baron du Pauli (Caldaro, Alto Adige)

The Di Pauli family had already been running their wine estate near Lake Kaltern for over one hundred years, when they were officially recognized as suppliers to the Imperial Austrian Court. Building on this illustrious past, Baron Georg Di Pauli is committed to upholding the proud tradition of this wine estate. Cellar Master is Helmut Zozin, one of the most respected winemaker in Alto Adige who also oversees Kellerei Keltern

"This year this Winery has finally matured and played out its cards, 3 of 4 wines made into our final selection for 3 glass Awards" Gambero Rosso 2007

Enosi Bianco

From the site of "Hoefl unterm Stein"(literally Estate under the rocks) the wine is a blend of Riesling (55%), Sauvignon Blanc (35%) and Pinot Bianco. The soil is a rich, loamy calcareous gravelly substrate made up for Porphyr/chalk and Granite. The low yielding vines are a mix of 30 year old pergola trained vines and 10 year old wire trellised. The nose has evocative scents of peaches and elderberry blossoms with fine citrus notes. On the palate, it has immense fruit intensity, with hints of minerality and great acid structure.

Vernatsch Kalkofen Rosso

Vernatsch is South Tyrol's most traditional grape variety and yields uncomplicated, delicious pale to full ruby red wines low in tannin. The wines are eminently quaffable, mild and fruity often with a delicious almondy aftertaste. Kalkofen is grown in Arzenhof, on a southeast facing hillside at 300 and 400 meters above sea-level. Soils are calcareous gravel, porphyry, and quartz sand (mineral components) and sufficient loam (body). Growing conditions are a Mediterranean microclimate. The wine has a bright ruby red colour. It is characterised by a gentle fruitiness and finesse in its structure. It has a lifted delicate aroma of raspberry, cherry, bitter almonds and follows through on the palate with a full and velvety long finish. A perfect aperitif wine or enjoyed with Salumi
