Hints of leather and spice ,touch of minerality with a firm structure and finish…Gambero Rosso 07 A blend of Sangiovese (70%) Sagrantino and Cabernet Sauvignon. Vine age between 16 and 36 years old. Sagrantino’s origins are thought to date back to the 11th century when it was possibly introduced from Asia Minor. This wine is produced from 25 year old low yielding vines. The fruit is hand harvested, fermented and aged for 6 months in new French oak barrels, followed by 9 months in large Slovanian oak and French oak barrels. It is a wine which will benefit greatly from decanting. Sagrantino di Montefalco Passito 2003 (375ml) 2 bicchieri Gambero Rosso 2007 This sweet wine is made from 100% Sagrantino grapes, which are hand harvested and then dried for up to 90 days. The dehydrated grapes are then fermented and barrel aged for 15 months in large Slovanian oak barrels, and a further 12 months in bottle before release. Suited to cheese, dark chocolate and fresh berries.
