COS (Vittoria, Sicilia) - All Wines are fully organic and Biodynamic

Cerasuolo di Vittoria 2004 (Nero d’Avola, Frappato)

The wine shows a brilliant ruby red color and nuances of ruby red, moderate transparency. The nose denotes intense, clean aromas of freshly crushed black cherry, blackberry, and a touch of vanilla. Intense midpalate with hints of mediterranean herbs and clean fruit. The finish is persistent with flavors of black cherry and plums. The Nero d'Avola grape used for the production of this Cerasuolo di Vittoria ages in cask, whereas Frappato ages in steel tanks. WINEWISE 06.

2 bicchieri , Gambero Rosso 2007

Pythos 2005 (Nero d’Avola made in Amphora) MAGNUMS ONLY

Fermented entirely in large Terracotta Amphora, this is modern wine making with 2500 years of history. Very fresh spicy cherry fruit, elegant but robust with hints of earth, spice and mediterranean herbs, on the palate light but intense, reveals many layers of fresh and savoury fruit, great length.

Contrade Labirinto 2002 (Single Vineyard Nero d’avola)

This is their top wine from a very old single vineyard with bush vines. The Terroir really shows well here, with loads of minerality derived from crushed seashells. One of the top wines in Sicily.

2 bicchieri, Gambero Rosso 2007

This wine shows a brilliant ruby red colour and nuances of garnet red, moderate transparency. The nose reveals intense, clean, pleasing and refined aromas which start with hints of black cherry, plum and blackberry followed by aromas of blueberry, toasted, licorice, tobacco, vanilla, carob and menthol. The palate shows initial robust tannins attack opening to reveal a balanced weight and flavour intenity. The finish is persistent with flavuors of plum, black cherry and blackberry. Contrada Labirinto ages for 24 months in barrique, 6 months in steel tanks, followed by 12months of ageing in bottle.
